Apple Updates its MacBook Pro Laptops

As we predicted earlier, the downtime on the Apple store was to prepare for the new, updated MacBook Pro models.  The long-awaited updates bring more power and better battery life to its MacBook Pro line.

The The 13″ inch MacBook Pros will still be running the Intel’s Core 2 Duo, but Apple has increased the battery life to 10 hours (wow).  The big changes come to the 15″ inch and the 17″ inch models.  They have been updated with Intel’s latest Core i5 and Core i7 processors.

Apple has also done some price adjusting by raising the entry level 15″ inch MacBook Pro, but lowering their high-end models.

The MacBook Pro 13″ inch laptops will continue to run the a 2.4GHz and 2.6GHz Core2Duo processors, but they got a bump up in the graphics department.  They will now offer a NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics chipset.  Both will come with 4GB of RAM and and offer a SDcard slot.

The 2.4GHz model will be priced at $1,199 with 250MB hard drive, The 2.6GHz model will have a 320GB hard drive, thats priced at $1,499.  Not bad seeing as Apple never really spices up their low-end models that much, but the new GPU is a nice addition.

The 15″ inch MacBook Pros will be updated with the new the Intel Core i5.  The first model will have a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and 320GB hard drive.  It will cost about $1,799.  Next in line is the 2.53GHz Intel Core i5, also with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M.

But it will pack a 500GB hard drive costing $1,999.  The biggest upgrade to the 15″ inch line is the 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7, Again they will offer the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and 500GB hard drive with a $2,199 price tag.

Strangely the 17″ inch MacBook Pro will have a Core i5 2.53GHz, and just like the others, it will have a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M GPU and 500GB hard drive.  The 17″ inch display is a glossy 1920×1200 and will start out at $2,299, which is $200 less than the previous generation.

All MacBook Pros will now support full inertial scrolling, on its glass Multi-Touch™ trackpad.  Apple is also offering the option of adding new 128GB, 256GB and 512GB solid state drives in their MacBooks.  It will really make them a lot speedier.  The battery life will be about 8-9 hours on the updated models.
